Kociemba's Homepage

Herbert Kociemba is a math teacher from Darmstadt. He invented the Two-Phase-Algorithm designed for solving Rubik's cube. This algorithm quickly finds good suboptimal solutions. Cube Explorer is a working implementation of the algorithm.

With about 35 CPU-years of idle computer time donated by Google, a team of researchers has essentially solved every position of the Rubik's Cube™, and shown that no position requires more than twenty moves.
